What is anxiety?
Anxiety occurs when we get stressed and our bodies release adrenaline, which makes you more energetic, fidgety and likely to have meltdowns (that’s how it effects me, it might effect other people differently).
My Tips
Tip #1 – Box breathing
As I explained earlier adrenaline is a big in anxiety, and box breathing is all about calming down from the adrenaline. To use this technique you simply breath in for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, breath out for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds. Repeat 5 times for maximum effectiveness.
Tip #2 – 5,4,3,2,1
When we get anxious, we tend to get stuck in our heads and zone out from reality, and 5,4,3,2,1 is all about bringing us back to the present. To use this technique you have to think of 5 things you can see, 4 you can hear, 3 you can feel, 2 you can smell and 1 you can taste.
Tip #3 – Relaxing
Relaxing is very important as it helps calm us down before the anxiety gets too much. You can do it simply by doing what you like for a minimum of 15 minutes a day (preferably more).
